Throughout 2023, A/Prof Mejía-Lemos LLM PhD, Distinguished Research Associate Professor at the School of Law of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), appointed within XJTU’s ‘Young Talent Support Plan’, had a very busy international schedule, notably as he carried out international research collaborations, teaching and training in South America and Europe.
He held two visiting research positions, namely at the Pontifical Xavierian University, in Bogota DC, Colombia, and at the University of Groningen, in Groningen, The Netherlands. During his two research stays, which lasted for 90 days in aggregate, he presented his scholarly work at various events, most prominently the 2023 (18th) Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law, held in Aix-en-Provence, France, which he attended in person, and an international conference jointly organised by one of his partner research projects and other academic institutions in Washington DC, United States of America, on customary international law and international investment law, which he joined virtually. Upon completing his research in Groningen, he also had a chance to visit his former colleagues at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, in The Hague, The Netherlands, to explore potential collaborations.
